Print tries to print to a file

Printing was working correctly for me until today.

This morning I installed Windows Update KB2753842. After that, I could not longer print. This might be coincidental, but it is the only thing that I can think of that has changed since I was able to print.

Now, when I try to print I get the 'Save Print Output As' wizard, prompting me to save to a file. This happens even though the previous Print wizard screen has the 'Print to file' choice unticked.

Any suggestions for fixing this?

Thanks.

Sounds like your default printer changed to the XPS printer. Go into Control Panel and check what the default printer is.

Thanks for the reply.

Now that you mention it, the Printer wizard does show the XPS printer as being my default printer!

Control Panel -Devices and Printers shows my Canon printer as being the default device. There is a green check mark next to the Canon printer and when I right-click on it (still in Control Panel) 'set as default printer' is still ticked.

I deleted and readded the Canon printer, and it's now correctly selected as the default device.

Odd.

Thanks a lot for your help!
