Hi experts
Anyone know if it's possible to have Office 2010 (32 bit) and Office 2013 (64 bit) running on the same computer. (Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit).

This link partially answers the question but doesn't say if you can mix 32 and 64 bit versions.
I have to keep EXCEL 32 bit as I have some addin's that don't work on the 64 bit version (EXCEL 2010).

I HATE outlook 2013 so the restriction on Outlook is fine by me. Mixing the 32 and 64 bit versions is my main concern here.

(Note you have to have office 2010 already installed to enable the "Side by Side" feature apparently -- not tried it yet).

Office 2013: Side-by-side or upgrade? | Jussi on SharePoint

Please posters who have actually TRIED this combination (on ANY version of 64 bit Windows 8). One often get posts like "It *should be possible*, or I don't THINK it will work. If you've tried this or can post me to an official Ms link saying it either works or doesn't work then I'd appreciate the help).

I don't actually like office 2013 -- I intend for all sorts of reasons sticking with office 2010 but there will be times when I have to run office 2013 and I really don't want to have to set up a separate Virtual machine just for that - or another Windows to Go system.

Cheers

Here is one reference that might satisfy you:

"Compatibility with existing Office files and solutions

The 64-bit version of Microsoft Office isn’t compatible with any other 32-bit version of Office programs. So you must first uninstall all 32-bit versions of Office programs before you install the 64-bit version of Office."

I found another on Technet, but like a dummy I left the page, and, for some reason, couldn't find the reference again. It said 64 and 32 bit versions cannot be installed on the same machine.

Hi there
Thanks

I'll install office 2013 in a VM -- it's not too hard to do this but I was hoping to avoid it and keep Office 2010 as my main working version.

I'll install a "mini W8" VM -- seems to take less resources than an equivalent W7 VM and I only want it for Office 2013 anyway.

Cheers

Off topic, but what is it you don't like about Outlook 2013? I like it a lot.

I particularly like how when you respond to emails, it does so in the main window rather than opening a new window. I have always found that annoying.

Well i may be wrong, but i think i had Office 2007 (which is 32 bit) aside Office 2013 64 bit.

So possible if not the same Office, but do not shoot me if i am wrong, it was some time ago.

But it was the trial version 2013.

At a moment i remember going into the programs & features and i was surprised that Office 2007 was still there.

I deleted it then.

Hi there
Office 2003 and 2007 are different - these can co-exit together or with other versions of office
Office 2010 / 2013 combo has more restrictions on co-existence.

Cheers

Good day!
I need to install Office Access 2013 32 bit (got 2000 32bit Access database files) with the rest of Office products 64 bit.
Is there any possibility that it would work? I uninstalled my 64bit Office and re-installed the 32bit version, but I find the 32bit version slightly lagging and sometimes a slight freeze on my 64bit Win 8.1 version.
I hope there is such an option perhaps?!

hello, and welcome to eightforms ,did you try to do a custom install of office and just install the Access 2013 32 bit, uninstall office first ,might not help but anything is worth a try right.

Hi "caperjack" ...
Thanks for the speedy reply! No, I haven't tried your option yet, and will give it a try. I read a lot of comments made on several forum posts and almost everyone says it's not possible running both bit versions on the same machine as 2010 & 2013 Office versions will not run side-by-side?! It's just that I did that with a previous versions of Office... I think it was Office 2007.
Thanks for your help!

Hi caperjack, Thanks for your support! that's a pity:( I will install 32bit of Access only ... convert all my older databases to latest and then un-install again, then re-install 64bit complete Office.
Cheers!
