    Windows 8 Metro Screen Freeze

I am having a problem where the Windows 8 Metro screen freezes and the tiles do not update or can not activate them with the mouse. Using the shift key and restart I am able to set the computer to safe mode which will then boot and get to the Metro screen. I then go and uninstall the latest program or app that was installed and it will work fine after rebooting in normal mode. The it will happen again a day or so later. This is getting fustrating.

    Any ideas?

Have you recently updated any drivers, especially video drivers? Does this happen right away or after the PC has warmed up? When I've seen things "lock uo" like this, it's usually overheating components or a driver issue.

I'm having the same issue using a brand new HP laptop purchased in December. No problems for over a month until today. Windows 8 comes up but can only move the mouse around. Ended up doing a system restore to December 27. Lost no files. Did a large update from Norton 360. Reading another forum's various suggestions, I uninstalled the weather tile. Has been working OK for the past 30 minutes. Microsoft doesn't seem to care that this is a big problem as they haven't responded [that I know of] to inquires made directly to them. They keep this up, Windows 8 will go the way of Vista.

I'm curious, how exactly did you make an inquiry directly to them? I know of no official mechanism from Microsoft to receive any response to an inquiry other than by opening a support incident, so it makes me curious what way you think MS should be responding to you.
