Hey again everyone.
***EDIT: I HAVE FIXED THE DESKTOP SCREEN RESOLUTION ERROR, I HAD TO CHANGE TEXT AND ITEM SIZE BACK TO NORMAL***
***EDIT #2: SETTINGS APP SEEMED TO HAVE FIXED ITSELF**
***EDIT #3: THE PROBLEM FIXED ITSELF!***
After reinstalling Windows 8, it's been fine for more than a week. I installed a few programs, and the latest AMD drivers for my graphics card.
When I rebooted, I noticed instead of booting straight into Windows 8, it showed the Samsung Logo (which it normally never does) and asked which OS I wanted to boot into, giving me an option of Windows 8 (on volume 2) or Windows 8... I deleted the "Windows 8" entry when I did a reinstall so I could install it fresh, and it's been fine until I installed the drivers.
Then, I used my computer pretty much all night perfectly fine, played a few games... and when I tried to reboot just now, the whole computer is glitching to crap. Weirdly though, the screen capture below didn't show the glitching as bad as it is...
This is what my "Start Screen" looks like, and hovering over icons just makes it worse... plus everything that's Metro UI related is glitching like this, and I'm not sure whether or not it's a graphics card driver problem or what. Another weird thing I noticed, is that when I go to log in, there's no glitches, except when it says "Welcome", it flashes black for like a millisecond then continues to log in...
Above is now my desktop. The resolution is screwed up, even though it's apparently already on 1366x768 as it is meant to be. Also, yes, that EXTREMELY glitched up thing on the right and partially on the left near the bottom is my "Charm Bar". It's that badly messed up, the only way I could navigate was off pure recognition of the item locations.
I've never come across a problem as such before, and I think it may have something to do with the new graphics card drivers. Below are my system specs:
Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.121119-1606)
System Manufacturer: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.
System Model: 355V4C/355V4X/355V5C/355V5X/356V4C/356V4X/356V5C/356V5X/3445VC/3
BIOS: BIOS_VENDOR Ver: P02AAN.014.120607
Processor: AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Graphics and GPU information:
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 7600M + 7600M Dual Graphics
Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Chip type: AMD Radeon HD 7520G (0x9990)
Now, the following I would dare say has changed after I installed the drivers:
Driver Model: WDDM 1.2
If anyone knows how to revert back to old drivers or fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. I would also like for this thread to be moved to the appropriate forum if needed.
Thanks.
