Just bought an Acer S3 i3. Set up has taken me over 6 hours. 1st - major problems getting internet access - but having removed McAfee all seems ok.

I have two major problems:

1. Cursor will freeze ever few minutes causing the machine to hang. Only solution is to hold down power and restart.

2. Tried installing office 2010. Have downloaded set up file and inserted product key. Once installation completes and I try to launch a program I get an error message - c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\wwlib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x000012f.

Hope someone can help!

thanks

Hello!

Do you have everything updated with Windows and drivers? This could be a potential cause.

I suggest you try redownloading the Office 2010 installer, it sounds it could be corrupted.

Thanks for the response.

I've fixed the Office issue. I attempted a full system restore....which didn't work. So I did a system refresh. I then installed Office and it seems to be working just fine.

However, whilst typing this note (on a separate laptop)....the Windows 8 machine has frozen twice and required a hard reset.

Have installed all windows updates. Have disabled dynamic ticks (via cmd: bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes) - a solution I found elsewhere. None of these have worked. I don't have the Windows 8 installer as the machine came pre-loaded otherwise I'd do a full re-install.

Any suggestions? I understand that the freezing issue is a known issue for many Windows 8 users.

Hope you can help!

thanks
