I think MS may have corrected some things in the latest updates because the issues that made me return to Win7 appear to be gone. The drivers that weren't available for my photo printer are now loaded, the remote desktop seems to be working without the timeout issue I was having and the font issue seems to be corrected so far. I'm still waiting for it to settle down and stop asking me to restart but it appears a little more solid now.
Hi Nax,
FYI, Most of the device drivers that were working in Windows 7 will work with Windows 8. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer of the product to send the updated driver to MS so that it will be included in Windows installation. When you manually check for Windows Update, usually it will list the updates in 2 sections: Important & Optional, the optional updates section are always unchecked and that's where the missing drivers are listed for your devices, you need to put a check for it to update.
When installing Windows, make sure you have your devices connected to your PC and the Internet cable plugged in then the Windows Installation will install the drivers automatically for you. However, I did have to manually install the driver for my network printer since it was not connected directly to my PC.
All my PC's have been running Windows 8 for almost 2 months now and I don't even have a single hiccup so I could safely say that Windows 8 is pretty stable, most of the problems that people encounter are just cockpit problems.
