There are some rumors that it is gonna be all Cloud based - Similar to Google Chromium OS

Which I hate because all your Information is stored Online ...

Still prefer the HDD Base system :)

Although the future is the cloud, I like the traditional centralized storage too! I don't think that Windows 8 will be totally "clouded", but probably some specific features will !

It could well be a 'User Defined' level of storage. Giving the user the option to use localized HDD based storage or online storage. Personally I prefer localized because of the security risks involved in any online data storing server.

I agree, I'd much prefer to have my important information on my machine rather than floating around in space. I suppose there could be a place for some things but not all.

The more "User Defined" options, the better IMO.

Totally agree, i could see online storage being useful for some features in the OS but i would not be a happy camper if all file storage was in cloud based.

Me too. Especially my financial information (banking, credit card info, etc.)! I've already been hacked several times and once even had my bank account hijacked through PayPal which is touted to be one of the most secure on-line payment services.

hello girls and boys,

i'm new to the forum and i wonder if there is any official word from microsoft - is the next os really going to be called '8'?

naturally i can see the logic implicit in such a move, but i still wonder...i've heard rumours (exposed recently at a very popular windows 7 forum) of windows 'smoke' - is this true?

:smoke:

Windows Smoke? That sounds very funny ...lol... :)

I think you're talking about the smoke effect while burning under Windows Vista, what isnt present in Windows 7.

AH, this would be NOT GOOD AT ALL. I would hate it. You think they will have an option to use a harddrive??
