How do you guys feel about the Advertisements/commercials for windows 8? I like the TV commercials or video commercials. I'm not a fan of the print advertisements such as posters and such. In the posters for their "logo" all they have is Microsoft spelled out in the segoe font. Granted that IS their new logo but at least in the video commercials they put the spell-out next to the four-color box(which in itself is meh). The text by itself looks awkward because the font isn't customized nor is there any other treatment so it just looks like the company name is spelled out. It doesn't stand out. They have a similar treatment on their website. Maybe they should have created a better image logo so they could have used that to represent Microsoft instead of having the company name spelled out. The only times the video commercials bug me is when they use the yellow background and white for the text color. How do you guys feel?

Actually, I've been watching a bit more TV as of late JUST to watch Windows 8, Surface, PC, or Windows Phone commercials....

I have to say, WWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a company that just ABSOLUTELY SUCKED AT ADVERTISING!! JUST SUCKED!!! OH MY GOODNESS DID THEY SUCK!!! WOW! This is literally a whole Windows 8ing of their advertising, they're awesome! They're so well done, apple should be ashamed of themselves!!!! WOW!

Going forward, I want to see them advertise the Microsoft ecosystem of Windows Phone, Windows 8, and Xbox as well as Bing. I think that's why they designed their new logo to be that, four new cornerstones of the new Microsoft: Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox, and Bing. Windows has all the Windows software that we know of from Microsoft. Windows Phone is putting the power of Windows and some of the software into an ideal handheld form factor that you have with you, which works together with Windows. Xbox is the gaming and entertainment division, which is both on Windows and Windows Phone, all of which work together seamlessly. Bing represents Bing of course, as well as their online services of Skype, Outlook.com, and SkyDrive. Those work on Windows, Windows Phone, and to an extent on Xbox. Different form factors, different features, different hardware, different capabilities, and different services working together; built for each other, co-dependent on each other to provide a user experience that isn't out there. Four cornerstones, represented by blue for Windows, green for Xbox, red for Windows Phone, yellowish for Bing. That need advertising.

I'm impressed at how much oomph they're putting behind their new products. It's stunning really. Millions upon millions of dollars for commercials on TV and in stores, as well as the Time Square product launch and now like 24 interactive digital billboards for Windows Phone, let alone the several product placements of the Surface and Windows Phone, big guns are drawn. That's what gets me, they didn't do an incremental approach, like bringing a knife to a fight, then a gun, and then rocks and bombs. No, they whipped out a laser gun and started shooting! Well done!

:dinesh:

Also, I'm so FREAKING glad that they're properly advertising Windows Phone. DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON WINDOWS PHONE 7 ADVERTISING. UGH! There was just an abhorrent lack of it! I can only remember two, TWO TV commercials for Windows Phone 7. One was advertising the Xbox Live feature of it. The other was just a bunch of people staring at their phones and at the end saying it's time for a phone to save us from our phones. NONE of which EVER showed the Start Screen and live tiles! WHY?! That shows NOTHING about how the UI of Windows Phone saves you from your phone!! SDAFOKGJH[SOAIGHW=094Q!!!!!!

But they fixed that mistake this time around, and fixed it they did!
