Windows 8 lock up

hey,

I have just installed windows 8 on a new 2nd HDD. It was a clean install but it did lock up once when creating a Microsoft account before logging in for the 1st time. After this, i did a manual restart and it seemed to work OK. Windows completely locks up when i do anything with the internet; it locks up Randomly on IE, almost instantly if i disconnect and try to reconnect to the network, instantly as soon as windows update starts to download anything and randomly when i open the app store. It usually locks up within a minute of being on IE or the app store.

Along with this, when i boot my 1st HDD with windows 7 that has previously been fine, it now says "one of my disks needs to be checked for consistency" every time i boot it. I have let it run this check and each time it brings no errors.

I am using 2 identical hard drives, both Seagate Barracuda (ST500DM002); when trying to run windows 8, i have to enter the boot menu, from there i run windows boot manager which does not give any options and just proceeds to loads windows 8. When i select either of my 2 HDD's from the boot menu it boots windows 7.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix any of these issues?

Thanks,

-Neil
