Is Windows 8: A ‘Christmas gift for someone you hate’...??

I say: Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

I love Windows 8. But some others don't.

So, I am of the opinion that - you should make sure that the person you intend to gift Windows 8 isn't one like me. If somebody who hates me would gift me with a Windows 8, well .... do I need to say anything more? ;)

I got you an ASUS tablet for Christmas!! (gets hopes up that it's an ASUS Vivo or Vivo RT tablet, then realizes it's just an android 4 ASUS Transformer tablet)

:)

I love Windows 8, and right now I'm appreciating the performance and security of it over 7. I'm right now dealing with a PC running 7 that just decided to puke on itself, the freeware anti-virus blocked some malware, but it seems something has gone wrong but nothing is showing anything. With Windows 8, this most likely wouldn't happen, and would be a little more easier to deal with if it did.

A better Christmas gift for someone you hate would be a free lifetime subscription to Norton Anti-virus.

They held a raffle once, where the 2nd prize was a one year subscription to Norton AV. The 1st prize was a program for safely removing Norton from your PC. :geek:

I bought an Asus transformer last year for Christmas and i enjoy it as much as I have any other tablet device. And I've used just about all of the with the exception of the Surface.

I've used both the ASUS Transformer and Vivo RT, as well as the Surface. I prefer the Surface purely of build quality.

Speaking of such, Staples and the Amazon Showroom (best buy) will FINALLY be carrying the Surface RT tablets later this month and the Pro as well, I think.

But have you bought one? You seem to really hype them, but as far as I know, you don't own one and last I read you were thinking of waiting for a future release potentially 1 year down the road from now? ????

No, I haven't bought one. If I were, it'd be the Surface Pro. I made the decision the day it was announced in July.

WHY???!!!

Purely because right now, my focus is on my desktop rebuild and designing it as I'm having a pickle of a time trying to fit six or so 3 in 2 type hot swap hard drive cages to maximize the amount of drives I can have without interfering with a future add on of a Radeon 7970 CrossFire or Radeon 8 series in the future, while at the same time not overheat. That, as well as I don't have an urgent demand for one, let alone a laptop. I can do fine with a Windows 8 To Go VHD edition. I won't have a real need for one until about spring 2014 or so, when I plan on going back to university and pursue architecture and get some tech certifications and minor in IT technology. That's my motivation for one. It's a perfect PC for that. Honestly, if it weren't for needing AutoCAD or maybe Photoshop as well, I would stick to a Surface RT as that fits the bill; right in between a full fledged PC and an apple defined tablet.

By 2014, I would bet the new Surface lineup will be released. I do support using the Surface tablets, as they're built real well and designed like a high end device should, while running an OS that does more than its competitors. Also, an AMD APU powered Surface sounds REAL interesting...

This isn't unusual for me to promote something I personally don't have. Seriously, I didn't buy a Windows Phone until a year and a half after I discovered it, and was the last among some friends to have one. WHY???!!! The Nokia Lumia lineup, that's why. Beautifully designed and built like a high end quality device should. I researched Windows Phone SO in depth, I was able to troubleshoot some issues and tweak some settings on my friend's Windows Phones and understood it better than they do.
