in COMPUTER MANAGEMENT Local Users and Groups missing

In our setup we have one local account only (not a Microsoft account also). We tried to Run gpedit.msc but it "cannot be found." And Local Users and Groups is not listed in the Computer Management panel. After adding another local account the Local Users and Groups is still not visible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Another question: is the main local account setup as Administrator?

Welcome to EightForums, thisisallen. Good to have you.

Yes, the main account should be an Admin account.

Hello Allen, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The Local Group Policy Editor and Local Users and Groups is only available in the Window 8 Pro and Windows 8 Enterprise editions. They are not available in the Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT editions.

When you create a new user account, it will be a standard account by default until you change it's type.

    Hope this helps,

In Windows 7 Home Premium Edition: While trying to set-up a SQL Server account in Computer Management I've discovered that "Local Users and Groups" doesn't exist under System Tools tree. Will I be able to accomplish this in Windows 8? And are there going to be multiple 'flavors' of Windows 8?
