You could probably enable Quick Launch then delete all items so there are none. It would then serve as a spacer that you could resize to anything you want.

I think others do something else somehow to make a spacer, but not sure.

If QL doesn't work well for that, I never tried it so don't blame me heh heh.

From looking at that screen shot, all it looks like to me, he is using a USB dongle, and running the O/S on a Key. You can get full details how this is done at MaximumPC magazines website, just search OS on a Key.

That's definitely not a Windows 8 build. It has the old Start logo. This honestly looks like a concept build of Windows 7, like, right after vista. Almost seems like what Windows 7 would had been in an alternate universe if Windows Longhorn made it out how it was supposed to come out...

Yeah it is, otherwise it would have the Start orb. The start logo is custom...you can put anything there you want with Classic Shell's options or even use ResHacker.

Take a closer look guys, that's a mockup. Was probably done in Windows 7, what gives it away is the upper right-hand corner.

I think we were talking about different items. I meant deez1333's picture and I think you mean the OP.

43172 As the debate rages on about what the future of the Desktop is and Win32 code and if WinRT will supersede it, I found this out just now. The OneDrive app in Windows 8.1.1 is not a true and true WinRT app from the looks of it; nor is the Photos app or PC Settings. They are all Win32 based...

Look what I found!
I've suspected all along that the "Logo + X" menu is coming from a folder of shortcut icons. Now I've found the folder. It has all the items in that menu, and several more. These are shortcuts ready to use. You can pin them to the Taskbar, Start screen, Desktop, Quick Launch, or anywhere. The...

No networks found
Hey, I've installed W8 some time ago on my laptop (Aspire 8951G), I can't seem to connect to WiFi. It keeps saying "No networks found". I bought a brand new WiFi USB adapter this morning and does the same thing as my built-in adapter. So I think it doesn't have something to do with the adapter's...

YES! I was in a search in trying to see if I can get Power Options or even some other Control Panel items to the Start Screen as I've gone and personally unpinned everything on the Taskbar, including Control Panel. And, as I've found before, not only can you pin a folder, hard drive,...
