Hello, this is my first time using this forum and I have a small issue that I would like to be solved as soon as possible. I am unable to save files to the desktop and every time I click it, I would get that error. I will upload an image to explain it better but I recently got this error and any suggestions on getting it fixed would be nice. Thanks!

So, is the problem that you can't save to the desktop, or that you can't open a file because Windows doesn't know what to open it with ??

Hello Sonoriously, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Are you having issues with any of your other shortcuts?

For now, download and merge the .reg file for the listed .lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below to see if it may help. It will restore the default associations for .lnk files.

If the above doesn't help, then delete Desktop and Recent Places under Favorites, and try the tutorial below to restore Desktop and Recent Places under Favorites.
Hope this helps for now, :)
Shawn

Brink, you sir are a big help. The problem is now solved. All I did was followed the second option and it worked. I can now access both my desktop link and recent places without getting that error. Again, thank you!
