Asus laptop SD needs a driver?

I just installed windows 8 . I did have windows 7,but after I installed 8 I went to download some pics from my cameras SD card and it doesn't work.Do I need to install drivers for it. Keep in mind I am not computer savvy LOL...Please help I would greatly appreciate it

    Windows 8 VM is install on his own SSD.
Pretty certain without much doubt. Driver support from 7 works real well with 8, most drivers like card readers don't need to be recoded or changed. But it would need to take downloading and installing it to see if it does work.

I've seen this issue happen with Windows 7 as well, it also needed card reader drivers, some of which were from 64 bit vista, to get working again in 7.
