This morning I downloaded/installed Win 8's latest Updates. Behold, I now have the much needed START icon.

When I start-up now the desktop is displayed instead of the START . Which is Great. It's now the way I like it.
However, it also opens my USER window on the desktop.

I would like to remove the opening of my USER folder on start-up. Any suggestions?

You must have done something else. No Start button for me unless I install one, like Win8StartButton (Classic Shell).

Ztruker! You are absolutely right. After I posted, I found that somehow, Pokki had been installed. I have no idea when and how.
I then searched the web to find out what Pokki was.

I first thought that Microsoft did the right thing and put a patch/fix in one of their updates.
But, as you know, I was dreaming.
