I'm thinking about upgrading to windows 8 right now. I was just wondering if there is any danger to just upgrading it through the assistant without making a usb or dvd copy because my flash drive is not big enough and I don't have any dvd's.

You'll lose the installation files for Win 8. Just buy a $5 USB for it.

I did what you describe, you want to know what happen 4 hours later? I was deleting files from another HDD which is where I installed all of my programs from win7. I use a software to help me delete all windows 7 program files and format. Restart, oh what do you know wont boot just black screen telling me nothing there....
My laptop was at work, so I didn't have a computer to redownload windows 8...
Anyways I had to wait for another of my friend to get home, went over to his house. I ask for his computer, commenced downloading win 8. Installed it to my USB and made it bootable.

Just save yourself the hassle get a USB tomorrow if not a DVD. Print out your KEY!!!
Save yourself the future hassle.

Alright thank you. I was on live chat earlier with microsoft. They had told me I would need at least 20gb on a flash drive. Which I only have a 16gb one right now. I could go get some dvd-r but I didn't know if such a big file would actually fit on it.

What? Which department of Microsoft where you talking with, it was probably their general customer service. You will need no more than 6 GBs. Here is a quick snapshot of my USB which has the ISO installation. USB.PNG
