Windows 8 Startup Problems

Hi

Tonight I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8 and everything went fine. I noticed that the right click was very slow and found out that it was my display drivers that were at fault so I upgraded them also. I then had to reboot and thats where my problems started. Not when I startup everything seems to go okay and I think that it is starting fully but I have a blank screen. I attempted to enter safe mode but was unsuccessful F8, Shift F8 and a combination of both. Looking for some advice, thanks.

Hi Will. Welcome to EightForums.

I just saw a thread on safemode. I'm on my phone, so I can't search. I'm not sure if safemode no longer exists or if it's turned off by default. I suggest you do a search in the forums. When I get to my PC I'll look this thread up again. In the mean time someone else may answer. Hang in there. :)

BTW I know there's a boot option repair using your install disk. Try booting with that.

Unfortunately I dont have a boot disk as I just upgraded via a download. I did a little bit of researching and it seems that Safe Mode is disabled and can be enabled from within Win 8 but thats not much good if you cant get your system booted :(

I see. We may as well be blind, hah?!! A lot of people having trouble with upgrade. Not to pour salt on your wound, but cold installs are much better.

Some people get black screen with the curser at least. No curser?

What you need is something to boot up with. I wonder if RP is still available for download trial. You can make an ISO disk and boot with that for repair. Please search the MS site or the net for that.
