Hi All!!
When I first started using Windows 8 a few days ago I didn't like how crowded the Start Menu was so I uninstalled a lot of the programs on there, including the Windows 8 Store.
How to I re-install the store? In older versions of Windows there was an "Add/Remove Windows Components." Is that the same kind of thing I am looking for now?
I read on some other post that it could get the Store back by doing a PC Refresh (in the General section of PC Settings). I tried to do a refresh and had two issues. The first issue was with Windows not finding my CD/DVD drive. I found a way to fix this by running the following registry command:
reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
That fixed the issue with the CD/DVD drive so I was able to continue with the Refresh. However, when my computer rebooted to begin the Refresh process it got stuck at 5% for like 30 minutes. I eventually force restarted my machine and here I am. Back in the same place.
Is there an easier way to restore the Windows Store than using PC Refresh?
Thanks!
Oh and another question, I noticed that the PC Refresh did not give you any options on what components to refresh. Would I have eventually seen this option if I had moved beyond the 5%? Or does the PC Refresh just refresh everything with no customization?
