How do I view the Windows Store on a non W8 computer?

I want to see what applications are available (and screenshots if possible) before I decide to take the plunge and upgrade my laptop to windows 8.

For example, is there a decent lightweight DVD (and maybe bluray) player, that doesn't have a crapload of useless and redundant features?

I don't know of any way to do so.

What are there for DVD apps? Once Media Pack is no longer free, it would be nice to be able to get a basic app that just does movie playback, like Mac OS X's DVD Player app.

edit: maybe not, I think it just shows you the defaults...

I do believe there IS a way, I'm not sure yet. But, I do know if you go to Bing.com and type in an app name, it will actually give a search result from the Windows Store. From there, you can click on that link and it takes you to the online version of the Windows Store where you can go to the Windows Store app and install it.

I finally was able to Upgrade for Windows 8. i didn't see any decent DVD apps, so i'll just get the media pack.

There is PowerDVD that I know of in the Windows Store.

And there is also VLC Media player, WAY better than the codec pack I must say. And free too.

I looked at powerDVD.
There's the desktop version, and the metro version actually doesn't mention DVD playback, instead focusing on .mkvs and such.

Not quite what you're looking for, but you can do a google search on site:apps.microsoft.com.
