Where do my windows go?

Still getting used to the modern interface, or whatever they're calling it. Often enough that it's getting annoying; I will click on a link or start a search. My results flip up and I read what I wanted to read but I can't go back to my original search. The search page is not on one of the tabs either; it's just gone. So I then have to go back to the start menu and click the app I started the search with.

As an example:

On the start page click the Bing tile
Search for Horses
Click on a search result

There now seems to be no way to get back to the original search window.

If the search result opens a new application (e.g. Internet Explorer), you can switch back to the Bing application an number of ways:

1: alt-tab

2: windows+tab

3. use the open app list that appears if you take your pointer into the upper-left corner and move down

Well, that works for almost everything. I'm getting used to it, but it's still a little weird sometimes.

Thanks for the help. Doing some more Win8 reading.

alt+tab has been a feature for a while now in Windows.

There is alt+tab, hitting the Start key on the keyboard, clicking on the lower left hand corner like always to get to Start, Start key+C and hitting Start, and there is also (to close the app down) move the mouse pointer to the top then click and drag down.

Many ways to navigate. :)

Windows 8 is a totally different beast than 7. It might be better to think of Windows 8 as something so different, you NEED to explore and learn the new ways.

Some windows do not show up when using ALT+TAB and the side bar has the same issue. I have learned, in some cases, it's quicker to tap the Windows key and click the tile I was using to get back to the beginning of my query.
