i was just wondering when you guys think Beta 1 will be available for download?

i think about 1.5-2 years from now

I'm thinking something like late 2011

I think 2012

yeah it will have a totally new kernel i think and also a lot of new features, more performance and more stability

Personally they should just start from scratch, New Kernel, Filesystem, GUI, etc. Even if it takes like 4-5 years.

And then we will have a forum full of whiners because their win7, vista and xp drivers and apps don't work on win8.

I totally agree.

You have to let go of the past sometimes.

They should do what they did with 98 and NT, develop a brand new OS as a side track to the current development, and then at some point dump the obsolete one.

A transition fase of a couple of years.
