Windows 8 Consumer Preview x64
Could the Windows To Go feature be used to sell Windows 8?
I was thinking and I realized the Windows To Go feature could be in the Consumer Preview build. And I thought it would be a stellar idea for Microsoft to sell USB 2/3.0 flashdrives that have Windows 8 installed on them. That way, you buy both Windows and technically the use of a PC. You plug it in to any machine, and Windows 8 is there along with your personal settings and files AND the use of your SkyDrive. Also, they have designed Windows To Go to be stable. You can plug out the USB drive while Windows is running and plug it back in, literally everything resumes back to normal. That to me, is a great idea.
I have to say this to the naysayers of Windows on a USB 2.0 flashdrive, I've already done it with Windows 7 and honestly, not only is it uber handy in enterprise settings, it actually works great surprisingly enough. I can run pretty Aero and use IE9 and Office 2010 without much of a hitch. This is USB 2.0 I'm talking about, impressive.

assuming the computer your using has internet access and is running windows 8...
if you login to a windows 8 pc using your live id then it imports all the settings from your home pc including apps and settings and pictures and all file locations held by skydrive and any remote settings so you can access your home pc if you had it setup.
it's a rather good setup they have going there and it works tried it myself between 2 computers running it.

it is suppose to bring over settings and such and most apps, if you use skydrive and setup remote access to your home computer through skydrive interface then you can access your user files as well from where ever you are on a windows 8 machine.
as well as storing info on skydrive..I've just started using it myself so i'm just getting to grips with it.
the keynote speeches from last year showed the whole process far better than i can explain.
but yes it should work for settings but not user files, thats what the skydrive is for.

Oh ok, that's obvious enough that it uses SkyDrive. Speaking of such, does the SkyDrive have better integration with Windows as of now?
I only ask because that Windows Live ID login feature sounds like a GOD send for the enterprise situation. It'll be like taking a user's NAS storage where ever they go and allow access into the SkyDrive as well.
