Hey, i was wondering if it is still too soon to start trying out Windows 8.
I used windows 7 beta without any problems, because it was ready but needed a little polishing.
Are games compatible with it? Are there any downsides?
From what i could see, the UI changed a lot. It looks like a smart phone, so that's why i was wondering if i should get it early and get used to it.
Don't not to sell you house and install Windows Developer Preview over your existing OS as chances are it will expire and you will need to remove it later.
System Manufacturer/Model Number junk system OS Windows 8 Developer 32 bit CPU 3200+ 2.2 gig Amd Memory 1 gig Graphics Card 8500 GT Monitor(s) Displays Garbage from behind local computer store
Keyboard Old HP Mouse Pink, made in China, Ebay special Case No front bezel, no sides, hard drive dangling by it's cables Cooling Heat rises....See case Hard Drives 40 gig Internet Speed DSL
These days dual booting is a no no -- use Virtual Machines -- the only case you might want to dual boot is if you are into very heavy or serious gaming -- plenty are but by no means at all the majority. In any case if you are a serious gamer it's probably better to have a totally dedicated machine available for that purpose.
For everything else - including 3D graphics and dvd playing today's hardware is MORE than capable of running virtual machines with almost the same speed as the Native OS and with vmware version 8 you can run these vm's in the background too so users can logon without even having to have an account on the HOST system.
I'd recommend trying out W8 as a Virtual machine first - you can then compare it easily with W7 without having to re-boot whenever you need something on W7.
Once you've got used to it you might like it enough to install as your main OS.
I find myself making WDP look like and act like win seven. After getting rid of the bloat, metro, etc., it reminds me of win 7 but more finicky so far.

Im not going back thats for sure.
I'm having fun with Metro.
Really, Ken, you don't know what you're missing.
The picture password is more than cool (a few swipes of the mouse here and there and no need to use the keyboard).
You're cheating yourself, really, and others, by not diving in.
