Windows 8 Boot Speed is INSANE

With Windows 7, my desktop took about 30 seconds to go from starting the boot logo to the login screen. On Windows 8? Today, it booted in about10 seconds . If it boots this fast on a standard hard drive, I can't imagine seeing it boot on a high end SSD. This is an upgrade install over Windows 8, and I still have lots of programs and such.

I'm thinking it's because the Preview version is essentially a Tablet edition. Might need someone with a table to confirm this truth.

I thought it was essentially an "Ultimate Edition" given the Bitlocker stuff in it. Also, it does have tablet features in it. I see them frequently on my touchscreen laptop (suck as the on-screen keyboard that is literally identical to that of Windows Phone 7...)

Mine used to be lightning fast until I started installing all of the apps I have on Win7.

Now it takes about two minutes.

Still, it's better than my Win7 bootup (almost 5 minutes) as I haven't insatalled all of the apps yet.

Ditto. Mine also slowed down but not as slow as win 7 and it is alpha software, so I have hope.

It is amazingly light and quick for an Alpha build, too. I can open up my laptop after a hibernation and the screen will be up in literally 3 seconds. It's great!

It's so fast I literally have sat down for 10 minutes just shutting down and rebooting. Why? Because it's fast and I can.

Yep, it's all about Hybrid Boot, but it has some flaws though. Actually, there's a video on Microsoft's Building 8 blog that shows the boot speed on a solid state drive. It's literally like resuming from sleep on a hard drive! It is insane!!
