    Apps Won't Launch

I have installed the ioWin8 Dev Preview on a HP Mini 210-1000 (twice) and it appears to install without issue but from the Metro UI almost all of the applications cannot be launched. Windows Explorer and Control Panel are the only ones that will launch, though the others do react visibly to being clicked on and they can be manually rearranged using the mouse and dragging.

Is there a Service that needs to be started or a configuration setting I am missing??

Try right clicking an application, click advanced at the bottom right corner and click run, this is another way of starting Apps.
No, you don't need any services to be started, the above method is for opening from Apps window.
EDIT: You could also try "Refresh" with this Tutorial:

    Odd results

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Right clicking has a different effect than you described. A check mark appears at the top right of the app in question, and at the bottom of the screen three opriotns are presented: Smaller, Uninstall, and Unpin.

    Does that provide any clues?

Ah, so you are specifically talking about the Metro apps, and not regular start shortcuts?
You may want to try this.

If you right click large icons, you get those options, the smaller icons will have advanced and pin/unpin options.Click image for larger versionClick image for larger version

Something is definitely wrong with my installation as I have followed the instructions for creating the application folder on my desktop, worked like a charm and non-metro apps launch fine but metro apps do not launch.

Equally I have tried right clicking on both large and small icons and the advanced options item does not appear.

If you have any important docs or pics, back them up and try a "Reset" and see whether it helps.
