Windows 8 DP (build 8102) suddenly started looking like 7
Hi!
I have just installed Win 8 the other day. All was OK, but today I had trouble booting and used boot recovery option from Win 8 boot menu. After that it started to behave like 7: it logs me in straight to old good desktop (not Metro UI), it shows circular "Start" button just like in 7 (it was looking a bit different yesterday), also Explorer and task Manager started looking exactly like in 7.
Any idea what happened and to get new features back?
Thanks in advance!
Nope, I haven't reverted anything. It's just like someone flipped the switch somewhere deep within Win 8. I just have to know where that switch is (registry, perhaps?). And I only can blame boot recovery for this, since I didn't do antthing else when this happened.

what does this key read on your machine? try changing it to 1 if it's 0
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RPEnabled"
“1″ win8
“0″ win7
Hmm. If memory serves, that's the key I've set to 0 in order to get classic Start menu back. It only changed that, the Start menu, nothing else. But thanks for the tip, I'll try changing it back to 1.
Mind you this is a developer's preview version not even beta. When you change the Start menu back to W7 that's would pretty much changing it back to Window 7 (II)
The ONLY thing changed after switching RPEnabled to 0 was the Start menu. I have rebooted several times since then and still had new task Manager, Explorer, etc.
Grrr! My 8 stopped booting properly. Again, just like yesterday when I had to use automated repair. I have a Win 7 loader (created with Easy BCD) to choose between W7, W8 and Ubuntu. When I boot into W8 it shows me its own loader, where I can find W8 in "other operating systems" menu (I mean W8 isn't default there, W7 is). But when I choose W8 - it reboots me into the exactly the same state.
Any ideas how to fix that?
