They go into "suspended" mode after you go back to whatever you were doing earlier and would presumably kill themselves if ignored long enough, only they dont.
Yep the only way that I have found to shut them down completely is through task manager![]()
I like the idea of this shutdown method as the PC is doing automatically and saves me a click.
It doesn't matter so much since they are suspended so you can go right back to them right away. Sounds great, but yeah, I do feel somewhat the same way; it's kind of annoying to hit Win+Tab and have to shuffle through five Metro apps before I hit the Desktop...
All you have to do is hold down the "Alt" key and tap "F4", just like you would to close a desktop application.
Regards,
Dan
Hold "ALT+F4"?
I quit them by using Task manager, isn't convenient. Open games, apps and press ALT + TAB, you will see =.=
Why bother?
They go into "suspended" mode when they don't have focus.
I'm not sure whether you are asking a question or whatever, but just to clarify you only hold the "Alt" key, and tap "F4" once.
The advantage of doing it like this is that the app will exit cleanly, as opposed to using the task manager, which will end the app abruptly, potentially erasing saved settings, etc.
Hope this helps,
Dan
PS: The "Alt + F4" combination works in most modern GUIs, including KDE and Gnome, however; Mac OS X uses the "apple logo key + Q" combination instead.
I hope that isn't how it will end up.
Those apps. in so called suspended mode are using ram .
One or two won't matter much - but there may be dozens.
I don't think most average users are aware of the keyboard shortcuts - it would be better if the apps. shut down properly.
