Hi there, since MS started shipping Windows Defender in Vista as a comprehensive security measure to deal with malware. I guess Windows 8 will come with MSE.

I'm going to guess not. Too many people use third-party programs like Norton. You know those guys, they swear by the program they payed for and won't consider changing. Until people open up to using free alternatives, Microsoft would be adding another step for them. First they would need to remove MSE, then install the other.

I think during the setup/installation phase of Windows they should allow you to install/not install Windows programs (such as IE, MSE, WLMessenger, WLMail, etc).

The comment about the EU is right on target. The EU is very consumer conscious and i doubt that MS would like to take them on again. My guess would be that the trend goes towards more configurability a la Windows Live Essentials. The odd thing here is that you can make a selection during the uninstall, but not during the install. That is logic backwards.
