Windows 8 Metro UI apps do not work on my old netbook
I just installed Windows 8 Dev 32-bit on an old Asus N10Jseries netbookwith a Atom N70 processor and 2 GB of memory. It runs the Metro UI even at 1024 x 600 resolution. However the Metro UI buttons for Metro apps do not work at all.
The only buttons that work are for normal Windows applications and Windows Explorer and Desktop. The Control Panel button leads off to some more Metro UI and loads that part fine. However all the neat little apps like Store, News, Socialite, Stocks, Weather, Tweet@rama, etc. etc. don't load anything at all when I click them.
What am I doing wrong here? Is it that I'm simply using old hardware or that I have to do something more to enable the apps or something? I'm using the 32-bit version on this old netbook so I'm wondering if the apps don't work on that. I know I might be jumping the gun and this might be a specific scenario but is anyone else not having any of their Metro UI apps being able to launch like me?
Also if this is the wrong place for this thread please move it.
Oh nevermind. Metro apps won't work on anything lower than 1024 x 768. So yeah be wary if you want to test this out on an old netbook. Problem solved I guess unless anyone has a workaround for this. I might try an external monitor to try this out.

Well I'm running at 1440 x 900 and the apps no longer work, I mean they were working about 3 hours ago, I went and resolved some help desk tickets, came back to my desk unlocked and nothing other then IE, control panel, desktop work. This is on a Dell D630 with latest chipset/graphics driver installed for Win7 64bit....is the service down or something?

Wait, those actually work? I thought that was just a demonstration placeholder.
Mine also won't work - 1024x600 resolution (i think) on lenovo S10-3t.
I hope someone will release a patch that will make those app work. I guess Microsoft forget about netbooks when they created these restrictions. AFAIK most of the netbooks are still on resolutions lower than 1024x768
