As title really.
What are the chances of Windows 8 being to Windows 7 what Vista was to XP?
Everyone seems to be very happy with Windows 7 so do you not think that Windows 8 will flop and everyone will just keep with 7?

Well, you have to go with the times. From the first reports, it is liable to look very different - especially in the UI ( Mosh). But that is the beauty, we will have a lot of new things to discover.
While the people at MS might not really be "up with the times", they surely recognize Vista was at the least handled badly, and at most a huge failure. they seemed to "get it" with W7, so one can assume they won't make the same mistakes. But a radical departure from 7, or just a bit of a polish with more cutting edge technologies (hopefully security amongst them). A Guy
I would not bet on it.so one can assume they won't make the same mistakes.

One Millenium and one Vista are enough. I bet Win 8 will be a great OS![]()

By the look of things Windows 8 just looks like another version of Vista and 7, if it dose look like that I will stay with Windows 7, I have had no problems with 7 so far and I like it.
Hmmm, the thing making me paranoid is all this stuff about "the cloud(tm)" in the ads. I have a PC because I can do stuff even though it's not hooked to a server. OK these days it helps to have broadband, but I really don't want to use Remote Procedure Call for every function to get a return code from some MS server someplace. I keep seeing this impulse to try to turn things back to smart terminals. I don't want to pay $1000 for a terminal, smart or stupid.
I agree. For us single users, the cloud does not make a lot of sense. But think of companies where many people work on the same project - maybe even in different locations around the world. For them it may be convenient to share things via the cloud.
Another area I see are the upcoming Tablets - or even Smartphones. They may not have the muscle or storage to run any and every application. The cloud may help there too.
PS: I would not want to on the cloud either. But it is creepng up on us. Just think of all the upload sites we use, or the Google translater, online AV file checking, etc.
The cloud makes tons of sense. I could see this happening without any warning:
Good thing we have the cloud!!![]()
