Yes; received free software
Nope
Watch the Building Windows 8 blog they will probably put it there...
The blog is at:Building Windows 8 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs all sorts of stuff there.
Iv'e just noticed the revival of this VERY old post. But Just to avoid some confusion. As it happens, I do have a Technet account, but in my historic post, I was only referring to the Technet forums - something a little apart. Technet forums are open for anyone to browse, but you need a live ID to contribute. Never will there be a release of new software there.
I have attended Microsoft "Kickoff" events for new OS's since 2001 when MS released XP... They only visit major cities, and usually occur in the weeks just before/after public release. Sometimes these are called roadshows. MS gives away all kinds of freebies to attendees, I saw people win entire systems, windows phones, and an Xbox at the Win7 event in San Diego. But unfortunately... yes you do need to be "in the industry". I am a CIS instructor and consultant, so I qualify that way.
Since you are only 15, and not (YET) working in the industry... your best bet is too keep informed by reading here at 8forums and other MS Win8 blogs, forums, etc.... and cross your fingers that MS has the "Launch Party" promo again for Win8!
LOLWell now i'm 17 -- but sweet! Thanks for the information about the events ha, I was extremely curious all this time..!
