Has anyone been able to confirm any new features to Windows that will presented in 8? I have been using 7 since Beta. It is smooth, and virtually hassle free. I am curious what may be coming with the next release..

I think, if Microsoft were to put more energy into supporting legacy apps in their current OS, they would see a lot more adoption from businesses out there. The compatibility troubleshooter is a great idea in concept, but not entirely reliable. More time spent here, would make the OS much more accessible than it is now.

If an IT dept has legacy apps that run fine in XP, or 2000, then they can simply include them in their image, but also apply compatibility settings that informs the OS to run them as though the OS was XP.. My two cents..

I think an addition to explorer that added two views side by side, would be a big plus. More organizational options built into Libraries, would be equally awesome, like the ability to see the contents of all folders in a library, in one view..

Yeah, I am pretty careful about how I update.. but I have not had any problems with it. I do a lot with my machines as well.. I recently installed anti-virus and anti-spyware for the first time in almost a year, after having the sense that all was not well.. Ran some scans in safe mode that came up clean, aside from tracking cookies.. impressive..

For me, 7 has been a pain in the butt. Every time my system updates, I gotta go back and fix something the updates broke (I also do a lot of modifications, but nonetheless, updates should not revert changes the user made. that's what restore points are for.) QUOTE]

Two of the things I've learned the hard way are also two of the most simplistic: 1. You have to close everything, including your browser, messenger(s), all apps, everything -- before you upload any new updates; and 2. never upload more than one update at a time.

That is a great idea for windows explorer but it would use alot of onscreen space.
Perhaps even better would be if they had support for multiple active tabs in one
w. explorer window just like it is in most of modern day web browsers.

Yes, exactly! I agree with Shadowjk, that updates can be (not always, but most of the time) very important!
