Can my PC run Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?

Hey guys,
So I've been thinking of buying Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on Steam. It looks really awesome, but what's been holding me back is the thought of buying the game and then only getting ~2fps on the thing.

I was taking a look at my GPU on NotebookCheck, and when I scrolled down I found some game benchmarks showing me how much FPS my GPU has scored on these games, and sure enough, Warfare was there! They were showing that in 1080p my GPU would get ~20fps, and in 1366x768 (average laptop screen resolution), I would get ~30fps, which for me is quite tolerable (page here: NVIDIA GeForce 840M - NotebookCheck.net Tech). However, the other machine specs were an Intel Core i7 4712MQ and 16GB of RAM, better than my specs, so that though of 2fps was still lingering in my mind.

So I thought I'd get my head out of my ass and post on a forum about this matter. Let me finally cut to the chase: How many FPS would I get running Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with these specs...

Intel Core i7 4510U (dual-core 2.0ghz, 3.1ghz with turbo boost)
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M (2GB graphics memory) ...

in 1080p and 720p? Also, which one would you recommend?

Thanks.

EDIT: Excuse me if my GPU isn't capable of running this game in the first place due to it not having some sort of feature in it or something, I'm kind of new to GPUs and PC gaming in general.

I think you should be okay, the GPU is the only thing which will struggle on High settings. Try 720P and medium settings, if its low on FPS try lowering things like HBAO+ and a
Anti Aliasing. If the settings running fine try step by step increasing the quality.

The game doesnt need a very powerfull GPU, running on Ultra here on a GTX 760 :)

Oh jeez, that cpu and gpu are terrible!, you'd be able to "play" for sure, like lowest settings 720, for even more frames.
Hate to brag but my gtx 970 and my i5 4690k play this at ultra, 1080p, 60fps :p

I don't see why people buy these super-expensive gaming PCs when an $850 laptop can run these types of games at playable framerates.

to be fair i did have a gt 640 a couple of weeks ago, and 800 dollar gaming pc can run this and many more games on 1080@60fps legit, an i5 4690k and a gtx 970, not that expensive.

The only perk to the stronger cards are theoretically longer lifespans in playability at higher settings and minimum however very few people I've seen who buy the strongest cards stay with them for longer than, for example a midrange card like mine. I'm staying with my brand new card and that will get me at least minimum settings in new games in three years when I replace whereas people who play the high end cards tend to replace them constantly. I just came from a GT 620- you know it was a bad graphics card when my laptop could outstrip it, performance wise :) .

But laptops are far closer to the obsolete curve, unable to get upgraded and are fairly dead if their graphics cards die and are really good at slowly frying themselves with a reduced lifespan when they are used for heavy gaming- outside of specialty gaming laptops which are very expensive. An average laptop with a dedicated mobile GPU is good for portable gaming and general work but I don't use mine as a mainstay for gaming.
