Win8 has done something similar on a lot of occasions, but to be specific i am trying to run STALKER-Clear Sky and i get this message:

I am the admin, I have run as administrator, I set both user and admin accounts to have full access to files. I am officially stumped and windows 8 is the worst creation of all time. I would love some help and hopefully to stop this problem permanently. Thanks in advance!

Right click on the app and run it as admin. Being the admin does not mean that everything runs in admin mode (elevated mode).

If you make a shortcut of the app > go to Properties > Advanced > there is a small box to check that will always run the app in admin mode whenyou run it from the shortcut. The shortcut is best made from the .exe of the program in the program library.

I never ran into that myself, because when I was using Windows 8, I set some special things to demand that I am the owner of the machine lol.

You could try Take Ownership of the .exe or even complete game folder, and if that by itself does not fix it, then add your account to its security table and give yourself full permissions.

Worse comes to worse, I'll dig up how to make Windows 8 think you're always Admin for everything. I think it's in gpedit.msc or if I'm remembering wrong, in secpol.msc. (That might mess with the Start Screen though. Not sure again, because I never used that at all and didn't care if it broke it.)

ok so i updated to 8.1 just now and i got past the last message. Now, when i run the game it says "please insert the original CD of 'STALKER Clear Skies'". Now unless there is a magical second disc that i don't see...the CD is in the computer. Why cant microsoft just create something user friendly?

The issue is with the maker of the game, or your own self (I am not castigating!) if you found the game.

Just giving friendly info and certainly, that is also why I put if in bold and italic.
