I just finished installing SPORE on my new HP Pavilion laptop, which runs Windows 8. The installation was successful, but when I clicked on the SPORE icon, I was greeted with this:
"The game can not start. The game needs access to the internet in order to verify ownership of this game. Please ensure that your computer is online and try again."
I restarted my computer twice and checked my wi-fi accessibility several times; I am not on airplane mode and my internet is working correctly everywhere else. I have since attempted to reopen SPORE several times, from both the home and desktop screens, but it continues to display the same message even though my internet is (I'm pretty sure) 100% working.
Note:
This same thing happened when my computer wanted to open the Windows Store and download HP Connected Music, but after restarting my computer these problems solved themselves.
I have both WebRoot and Norton security anti-virus, though I don't believe I've activated Norton because I didn't want it in the first place.
Thanks for reading! Please help!
