installing l Dungeon Keeper 2 on Win 8.1.

I haven't tried it on 8.1, but I have run it on Win 7. I had to set the program compatibility to run under XP, that worked, although I could have set it to run under Win 98. I would imagine you can run it the same way on 8.1. Check out the link on setting program compatibility.

I enjoy playing some of the older games. Serious Sam 1 & 2, Dungeon Keeper 1, Star Trek Armada 2 & Diablo 1 & 2 :D.

Playing DK2 under win 8 can be quite difficult depending on your configuration, it is copy protected and that can bring problems when installing , hardware acceleration doesn't work very well on win 7/win 8 (graphic glitches), running in compatibility mode resets the game options all the time, and it doesn't support multiple cores. There are various fixes for all of those, here are a few links :

You can also try running it under VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) or VMware Player (VMware Player Plus: Easiest Way to Run a Virtual Machine | United States).

The easiest though is probably to buy it from GOG : Dungeon Keeper 2 for download $5.99 - GOG.com, gog's versions include most recent fixes official and unofficial to make them run on modern OSes.

Did you read the post just above yours? Wondering because you don't mention trying any of the workarounds. And welcome to the forum! :)
