Windows Developer Preview, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 recently deleted
age of empires 2 problem(s)
1)
I've been playing aoe2 on windows for years, until win7 showed up. then, whenever i wanted to play it, i had to run .bat file that would terminate explorer.exe process and start it up after i quit the game. otherwise, i'd had red trees, brown sea, pale would be yellow,...
now, i've installed windows 8. after installation, i started .bat file, since win 8 also has aero theme etc, to find out that colors aren't fixed that way. so i thought that i should run it without .bat
colors of the environment are normal (almost), but the text is unreadable, and stuff.
anyway, i was wondering how to fix colors in win8?
2)
almost every time i start it, i get bsod, which wouldn't be much of a problem if my computer wouldn't take so much time to restart. so, is there a way to fix that?
thanx,
mirac7

I'd post a screenshot if i woldn't be getting a black square every time.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's much you can do. It seems like a compatibility issue; a lot of software and games don't work well if not at all on Windows 8. The fact that two people have the same problem with the same game makes it more likely. If anything, it should be fixed by Beta or the main release. But if I do find something, I'll definitely let you know.

Windows 7 x64 SP1
It seems Windows 8 manages to run older software better than Win 7: An oldie like Moto Racer (1997) that runs in 16bit colors smooth and without compatibility settings tweaked. But unfortunately AOE2 is not fixed yet for me either.
Ah, what a great game. Seems like I always see posts like this, whether it was Vista, 7, or 8. Is there a simple compatability troubleshooter you can use?
I don't think that game will ever die, much like CS. I have an extra winXP computer here JUST for that game
