anyone pick this up yet?

got it for Windows 8. Pretty fun. so far playing it with keyboard and mouse. will try out the touch soon. Can't wait for the 360 controller support as that should be the definitive way to play.

For those that don't know about the game, it's a twin stick shooter a la Geometry Wars or Smash TV or Food Fight.

Now, I'm wondering if the Windows 8 purchase will also apply to Windows RT so you don't have to buy it again. I know the Windows Phone version is considered separate and requires a separate purchase.

Yes windows store purchases apply to Windows 8 and RT. Fun game though the micro transactions are a little disappointing. Would really like to see a multiplayer mode added to add more replay value. The Xbox 360 functionality will be awesome once they add it.

I just got the game and have been trying it across multiple devices rather than getting deep into it so far. I've tried it on a 23" touchscreen and with the keyboard/mouse. Can't wait to use the 360 controller as that should be the best.

what are these microtransactions? haven't gotten into that stuff yet.

here's gameplay with the touchscreen:

it's going to take a little time to get used to touchscreen for me. the movement is great with the left thumb. it does what I want and it's easy to stop and go. the control with the right stick and the grenades is a little tricky. maybe it's because I first tried out touch after an hour of swimming. my finger did not want to slide on the screen.

here's gameplay with the keyboard/mouse:

it's okay. movement is kind of weird because you end up walking in zig zags because of the keyboard. it's weird how much smoother walking is with touch. a 360 controller solves everything.

You can hold up and a side key so you don't have to do zigzag, but yeah it is smoother with touch. Looking forward to the Xbox controller support too.

it looks like Halo Wars but it's a totally differen't genre. Halo Wars is RTS and still had the "mouse clicking" around the screen to move around which was annoying. they should've had twin sticks for movement and then maybe a button press to enable build mode so that you could place down facilities. but they stuck to the mouse way of doing things.

it was dependent on resource mining like any RTS game.

Spartan Assault is a pure twin stick shooter.

It's just a fun arcade game that I play on an airplane. It's a great game for it's cheap price.

the 360 controller is definitely the best way to play the game! I'm using the wireless version. The update made me start from the very beginning again. Kind of sucks but it's fun enough to play again...
