Mouse + Keyboard v Controller ?

So what's the verdict ....Mouse + keyboard or Microsoft xbox controller ?

The reason I'm asking is , Assassins Creed 2 ...I had some serious issues doing advanced wall jumps to the side on the last few side missions to get Altaïrs armour. ( Did the missions last thing , Yeah I'm a f**ktard , I know that already )

Yes its an old game but its new to me ! Seems like you have to have 4 fingers on the keyboard and one on the mouse. Is it just a bad port or is the keyboard and mouse system not that good ?

Kinda got used to it now on other games, so what's everyone else using ?

I kinda like WASD as well , just found it confusing when I was told to press the RED button ......... Is this the usual thing for PC games ? The advanced jumps are over complicated ( maybe a good thing to make it hard , but at least port the game with the relevant keyboard buttons )

I have only played Madden on console, so I have always uses PC for my favorite style FPS. I am going to get a controller to play some driving games, and a friend on 7 forums said it is good for Metro also.
