Newbie to modern day gaming question I know but here goes.....

Can it be done or does one have to have the console as well?

Reason I ask is since Microsoft owns the Xbox, you would think they would've developed a mechanism whereas one can play them just by using a PC & its CD/DVD-R drive (At least in the short term until I can get the console)

I have Steam & a few other online game playing tools & plan on buying the games so it's not like I'm trying to "Cheat The System" as it were by downloading BitTorrent copies of them (Who would wanna EVEN HAVE a game on their Hard Drive MUCH LESS play it off a Hard Drive anyway?)

I also plan on streaming my game play on Twitch TV where I have a couple accounts (Yes I've read their recommendations & will go that route over the long haul)

Just wondering if it could be done though. If it can't then it can't - Ohh well.....Life's a handsome frog sometimes.....

Cheers :D

Currently? no.

However, it is theoretically possible for Microsoft to eventually merge XBOX with Windows, where Xbox games will play (providing your system meets strict system requirements).

But it's not currently a possibility, and it doesn't look like the new xbox will do that either.

DRATS !!!

You would think Microsoft would have enough sense to make it possible to play Xbox games on PC's (Or at least make the developers make the games PC compatible whereas they can be played on both) but then too, WE ARE talking about Microsoft here. They seemingly do EVERYTHING half-arsed BACKWARDS

Cheers :)

I'd like to agree, but the Xbox 360's CPU is based on RISC and is not compatible with intel/amd chips without a severe performance hit.

The new Xbox, on the other hand, is using a slightly modified AMD processor.

It's possible for Microsoft to allow Windows computers to play the new Xbox games, providing the system is better than or comparable to the new Xbox.

The point is it's even more possible than before, but i don't know if they'll take advantage of that ability.

Xbox 360 Emulator ? Xbox360 EMU®
Xbox 360 emulator - can it be made ?

Yes it can, but at this time the PCs are too slow to handle it .

Can you please post evidence that there ever was a working Xbox 360 emulator? Everything I find is either highly theoretical or saying it would be super slow.

Have you tried any? There is this one which I just installed Xbox 360 Emulator for PC - Tutorial + Download [Tested & Working] - YouTube You have to follow the instructions to download the bios when you run it. ( see the readme file) It will take you to a place you can either take a servy or download and install a free app like media player classic - i choose this method. I don't however have any xbox 360 games to test it so I'm waiting for a friend to get home. if you have some games, try it out.. I'd be interested to hear if it worked for you.

BBack to my original point: there is still a severe performance hit. Really high end processors can still run it I guess, but Microsoft would be ridiculed for making an emulator that plays poorly on most systems. And it's not worth it for the effort required.

The simple truth is that a xbox is a xbox and a PC is a PC and that's all there is to it.
