I have had a HP ENVY dv7 Notebook running Windows 8 X64. I have downloaded a few games from the internet that work perfect. I was told when I got this computer that most of my games that worked on windows 7 should work on here.
Well my question is the installation wizard won't start on three games of mine I have tried.
The first game I tried is John Deere Drive Green. It wouldn't start the installation wizard. I went to my computer and clicked on drive E then clicked install or run program. It started going through the whole install process. It then had some kind of error so the installation exited. It now shows up that in drive E John Deere Drive Green. I took the CD out and that still shows up. I can't get the installation to run for Rig N Roll or Farming Simulator 2011. Those are two other games I have. Can someone please help me with this issue. I don't know if I posting this in the right place or not.
I downloaded a free game from the internet called rigs of rods. It worked just fine.
Someone please help me. So far I was liking Windows 8 and now I think I may hate it unless I can resolve this. This notebook was made specially for gaming. It has a sticker on it that says game on.
Again thanks for help from whoever helps me. I really need help this is making me upset that I can't make any of my games load.
Firstly I don't know with which configuration you bought this Notebook, but it's for sure not a high-end Gaming-Machine, but I think you know that a proper Gaming-Laptop will cost quite a bit more (2500-3500 bucks) then the own you own, but it should be most likely fine for the kind of games you are playing.
Secondly, all the games you try to get to run are really very poorly and cheap developed and John Deer Drive Green is from Q1-2009 and therefore not the newest.
Unfortunately, this kind of games cause even plenty of issues on good gear, but there are in most cases no really patches or bug-fixes being released.
Farming Simulator 2011 seems to be patched twice and should be now v2.2 , but your other games didn't get any bug-fixes so far (as far I can tell).
You could try to run the Installer / Setup as Administrator and in a Compatibility-Mode, like Windows-7 or Windows-XP.
A Screen-Shot of the Error-Messages would evtl. help to find out, if it would be possible to fix it, as there are maybe only some System-Files missing.
Sometimes it could be caused by the VC-Runtimes:
