Hi
I have a wireless X box controller with the PC adaptor. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the MS store and in device driver it says that it is working properly, but it doesn't work.

I have tried it on two PCs, both with Win 8 installed.

Has anyone got it working on their machine, and what did you do?

is this an authentic Microsoft wireless receiver? lots of fakes on Amazon and Ebay.

did you sync the controller to the wireless receiver? it's just like bluetooth where you have to pair the devices together. you do that by holding down the button on the receiver until the light cycles. and then turning on the 360 controller and holding down the sync button until it cycles and syncs to the receiver.

Hi Dirtyvu

Yes all the kit is genuine Microsoft, and yes I did sync. the wireless adapter and controller.

If it helps the OS is 32bit.

I have tried it out on a Win 7 OS and it works okay.

it works fine on my system though I have the 64-bit version. but it should work in 32-bit as well.

what game did you test with the controller?

The PC receiver allows you to use any Xbox 360 controller on the PC. In fact, when you buy the Xbox 360 controller for Windows, it is a regular Xbox 360 controller. There is no specific "Windows" controller. The receiver is the bridge to allow you to use the Xbox 360 controller in Windows.

In fact, the receiver is great because you can pair up to 4 controllers to the PC. Great for emulators. As long as it's an authentic receiver. the imitation ones have a lot of problems. problems installing drivers. problems syncing. problems staying connected.

Oh I see. I used the Wired Xbox 360 Controller and connect it to my Laptop via USB. Which is perfect for all the games that use it like Sonic Generations and Portal 2.

Hi

Thanks for all your replies.

I must be missing something. I have now reinstalled Win 8 in 64 bit and it is still not working. The controller and receiver are genuine Microsoft components and the software and driver was downloaded from the MS site. Will this play all games from the MS store or only selected ones?

honestly, I don't remember downloading the driver from the Microsoft site since Windows 8 already came with a driver for it. maybe during one of the updates, it updated to the latest driver. but I didn't manually download it.

once the controller is working, it's just a normal HID controller and works in everything like your emulators, etc.

Try removing the receiver from your pc. Uninstall the driver you downloaded. Reboot plug the receiver in and let windows find the driver for it.

Exactly what I did with mine, no problems so far.
