Alternative Xbox 360 Controller Drivers?

I have a classic wired controller and am currently using the official MS drivers. I am wondering where I can find alternative drivers that will, for example, allow me to make full use of the orb button and remap keys. I have already tried JoyToKey and Xpadder and they work fine, but am looking for a little more. I have already Googled this and found the results confusing since there seems to be alot available. If anyone can name a few good alternatives then that would be great.

Thanks!

I thought you can map the keys in game?

It would be great if anyone else finds alternative to it. I read somewhere xpadder was good but I have not tried it myself because I am happy with the official Drivers.

Some games will let you remap the keys, but others wont, or they will, but wont let you remap any key to any function you want. JoyToKey and Xpadder can get around those limitations and can even let you use your gamepad to control your pc. I also found a program called Pinnacle Game Profiler, decided to test-drive it and it's pretty good. It supports a ton of games and lets you create game-specific profiles. It's not a driver though.

There is a driver called XBCD that's been around for awhile, but it's not compatible with Windows 8 from what I've heard, and it can BSOD your PC. I also found this:

Xbox 360 ????? ???????????? ????

That driver doesnt seem to have a name and the page is is japanese/chinese/whatever, you can use Google Translate if you want to read it.

At Awesome custom Xbox 360 controller driver for Windows there is a guy who links to the page above and claims that the driver works. He claims that it supplements rather than replaces the official driver, adding extra functionality. But I manually installed the driver and when I rebooted the gamepad no longer worked. Pressing the orb/guide button doesnt produce the help prompt onscreen, but it does light up. All it took was a quick uninstall of the 360 drivers, a Registry scan with CCleaner, and a reboot, and then a reinstall of the drivers, and everything was back to normal. You're supposed to run the included configurator program after installing the driver, as well as setting it to run at startup (it shows up in the system tray/Taskbar at bottom right). Maybe I didnt do something correctly, if you or anyone else wants to give it a quick try and report the results then that would be great.

Thanks!

This is just a hunch, but I'm thinking that maybe the reason why the controller stopped working is because the modified driver may not be digitally signed.

I use x360ce to correct a problem with keymapping in Viking: The Battle for Asgard (on Steam) and I use Xpadder for Battlefield Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Oblivion and Morrowind, but I don't think either program will make use of the orb button.
