Hi How many times do I have to watch an advert during a game of Taptiles?

If it's like some of those other free games, the answer is "until you pay for the premium version that contains no ads." :(

I have not played that particular game, but Backgammon Pro runs Bing ads all the time (I'm used to them and I ignore them). If you tap or click the "Remove Ads" button you're prompted to pay for the premium version (around $3 I think). I'm too cheap to do that so I put up with the ads. ;)

It's a disgrace, why do I have to watch a 30 second film trailer of an old has been (Bruce Willis) every other game?

Something like that would discourage me from playing the game. The ads in the backgammon game are to one side and pretty easy to ignore. If I had to sit through a 30-second ad every other game I'd move on to something else.

Hi there
I just don't understand the business models of some of these companies -- discreet adds or a few casual reminders which you can easily get rid of easily with a simple click or slide or not too bad -- I understand people need to make money and the freebies are usually a "shop Windows" to their more polished paid for versions -- but if the ads get irritatingly annoying like a lot do then I just uninstall the wretched thing and never try it again.

That's why I rarely watch Live TV any more -- I either use VOD (Video on demand) or record and fast forward the commercial breaks.

The whole method of advertising in a decent manner over the internet hasn't yet been worked out - but one thing is for sure -- consumers can get irritated very easily and these days there's plenty of other sites to try.

Hint also -- when you buy from sites like Amazon - use a "rubbish" type of email address so all the constant reminders you get after you've bought something on amazon pestering you with "You bought XXXX -- we think you'll also like YYYY" just go to that email address which you either never open or automatically delete any email that gets delivered to it.

Unsolicited (by this I don't just mean pure SPAM but email;s of the example by AMAZON I quoted above) ) email IMO is just as bad as "Cold calling" which the EU regulators are trying (finally) to do something about.

I'm prepare to tolerate a certain amount of advertising fishing around for business if I'm using a freebie etc but it mustn't be done in an aggressive manner -- or I'm off elsewhere.

Cheers
jimbo

We think the same then...

Those adds can be very annoying with time.
Do they think about consequences? Probably it's calculated for the most people who don't even know how to uninstall annoying programs. So the adds will be seen no matter how many times.
