Xbox Minesweeper w/ a mouse?

I've been playing the Xbox Minesweeper game with a stylus on my tablet for a while now. But recently I've hooked the tablet up and monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Yes Windows 8 can be used as a desktop! While Minesweeper can be used with a mouse, it looks like the designers didn't really have the mouse in mind as a first class citizen.

A right click flags a square. But it takes a double click on a suspected unflagged square to simulate a regular tap of the stylus. Also, the double click doesn't clear all the squares like it should.

I'd sure like to get the Windows 7 desktop version of Minesweeper and try that.

Has anyone had luck w/ Xbox Minesweeper and a mouse?

I've just played Minesweeper with my mouse, just to check if I get the same experience you've described.

If I rightclick I flag a suspected tile. If I rightclick a flagged tile it changes to a questionmark. If I rightclick a questionmark the selection dissapears entirely.
If I leftclick a tile it will open or go off (if it's a bomb :)).

I didn't needed to double click anywhere....

Der Snoober: right after your reply I looked at the charms bar on the minesweeper program, and clicked on help. Sure enough the double-click is documented in help. Double-click performs a featured you're probably not aware of. The alternative for double-click is to click on the mouse wheel button, which my Microsoft touch mouse does not have.

Bottom line: it looks like minesweeper is best played with a stylus or a pen on a tablet. My scores are way down using it in desktop mode. I have to try Windows 7 desktop version of minesweeper to see if it is also hampered on speed. I seem to recall that it was not.

That said, I think that minesweeper is one of the best games Microsoft is providing in the Windows store right now. There are handful of games that Microsoft has ported from Xbox to run Windows 8. I don't think it is their intention to port very many of them, as their intention is the lure Windows 8 users onto Xbox. That's a shame because Microsoft has some of the best games in the Windows store...

Lol!!! I've just checked it out. Wanted to know what the click on a mousewheel does. As you rightly said, I wasn't aware of that function.

I can see where it might become a problem if you are used to that specific function, but don't have a mousewheel on your mouse. I myself play minesweeper mostly on my Windows Phone, so don't use that function.

Well, I found the sollution for you ==> CTRL + RIGHTclick.

Have fun playing!!! (And please give me some rep if your problem is solved by this answer ;)).

Many thanks Der Snoober! I find holding the control key and left clicking does what I want. If you flag analysis suspected Squyres, and then left click with the control key, it will attempt to clear that you think are not mines. Of course if you're wrong on the mine explodes the game is over!

This was a very trivial and unimportant question, but nevertheless thanks for your insight...
