Signing into Xbox inside games

Hi all, new to the forum but really hoping someone can help me with this strange problem I have been at it for days and still no further on.

I have windows 8 Pro installed on my laptop. Everything is working fine and I can sign into the Xbox app and see my gamer profile and recent games etc with no problem. However, when I download any game that has the option to sign in and use my Xbox ID, it downloads fine, launches and then when signing into my Xbox account asks fist if I want to install this item? (please see screenshot)

If I click on Install it tries to sign in and then says:
You own this item
Your purchase wasn't completed because you already own Activate your game. (please see screenshot below)


I have tried everything I can think of.
I have un-installed and re-installed the game.
I have checked time-zone settings etc in my Xbox Live ID
I have tried other games like Minesweeper etc. they all do the same.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end trying to solve this.

I have tried with several games, TapTails, Minesweeper, Pinball FX, they all do exactly the same.

I have a different issue. I click on the 'Games' tile, there it tells me 'Sign into your account to view achievments...'. It doesnt tell me how to sign in though. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thanks!
