It was preinstalled with my Windows 8 install, check yours under games. I think they called it Microsoft Solitare, once you load it there is like 4 or 5 versions of Solitare:

Freecell, Spider, Klondike, Pyramid, and Tri-Peaks.

My wife loves Spider Solataire and I am willing to pay for it. Help. Thank You. Joe

The APP from the store is pure BOVINE SCATOLOGY.
follow the previous poster(s) advice on installing previous version of Windows games on W8.

I'm running them fine on W8 x-64 Enterprise version.

(Maybe I'm bonkers but I've got the free Spider solitaire, Solitaire and Hearts all installed on my Android phone as well. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy IIIs running Android Jelly Bean ---- great to play in boring meetings !!. Also Chess (Free) -- and it's one of the best computer chess games I've ever seen too. Download from the GOOGLE APPS).

@ tlarseth -- Most W8 installations don't have the games pre-installed. I suspect yours were added by the OEM.

Cheers

The games are pre-installed on all versions of Win8, just that some aren't pinned to your start menu. I did an upgrade install on my wife's and her laptop had it installed, I had to go to my apps to update it then it showed up in the start menu. I loved the achievement and daily challenge as well.

Hi there
OK maybe -- I'm using Enterprise so there's no games on that version and you can't even obtain from the store as the store knows what version of W8 is being run and different apps are available depending on the version.

I can't really say if W8 Pro has these -- I know the preview version didn't have them and there were posts available saying these games now had to be got from the store or from W7 via the posts above.

If I'm in error -- sorry -- but the apps I thought when you go to the update fishes these from the store which aren't the same as the W7 versions which I think the O/P wants.

Cheers

I don't see any preinstalled games here. I'm running the Win8, ...how to call it..., home premium not the pro.

Hi there
as I said -- it gets it from the APP store.

The O/P wants the ORIGINAL W7 games. -- Could be the App store has changed the games to the previous versions -- the first iteration of these were just JUNK. I can see from the screenshot that they have indeed changed and it looks like the older versions.

Anyway if one has access to a W7 system the method of installing the games works just fine (Even on ENTERPRISE where the app store used to prohibit these games from being installed on your system -- could be that's changed since W8 was oficially released -- I installed W8 Enterprise from Technet a few weeks before W8 was released to "The wider public" and the app store has certainly significantly changed since then - So I stand corrected here !!).

Cheers
