MoveIt is a simple Hotkey Program that sits in the Tray. It has Hotkeys to place the active window at various positions. Unfortunately since I have only had single monitor systems I could not program in multi-monitor support. The good news is I've been using it on Vista and Windows 7. Now I have a Laptop with W8 and it seems to work well with W8 Desktop.
There are default window positions that correspond to the various keys, such as t for top and b for bottom. But there is a special 'z' key that allows you to customize any of the positions. The placement and size information is stored in an .ini file in the same folder as the program. This information is stored as percentages of the screen dimensions. Say you customize your windows at one screen resolution, then decide you wish to use a bit larger screen res. The window sizing and placement should be sane at least. Changing from 4x3 to 16x9 may not look great. But changes between various 4x3 or 16x9 keeping the same aspect should look OK.
Along with the main function there are a few convenience functions such as moving the active window by a large or small chunk by pressing Alt Winkey Arrow or Control Winkey Arrow. If the border of the window would go off the desktop, it is moved to be flush with that edge of the desktop. Makes it a snap(pun intended) to park a window flush with an edge of the screen.
There are also hotkeys to stagger Explorer Folder Windows, close all Explorer Folder windows etc..
