Tablet-Style IE10 Zooming on Non-Tablets?

I really like IE10's improved zooming on tablet devices, which is similar to the zooming method on most smartphones. I'm wondering if anyone's figured a way to enable this zooming for non-tablet devices. When I try to zoom on a ThinkPad X220 (Ctrl + trackpoint scroll), it still does this in slightly choppy steps, whereas zooming with tablets like Fujitsu's UH900 is very slick, despite its Intel Atom Z530 innards. Scrolling on both devices is butter smooth, however.

(Of note, I am not using Lenovo's drivers because the TrackPoint scrolling is choppy with them -- I'm using the third party Drag-To-Scroll application instead, which directly emulates mouse wheel behavior whenever I move the trackpoint with the middle button held down.)

I'm assuming that when Synaptics gets its Windows 8 gesture suite out in October, these features will automatically be enabled, but has anyone figured this out in the registry beforehand? I'll keep searching for the answer -- Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

A couple of reasons - one, the Fujitsu uses an Intel GMA 500, which is actually NOT an intel chip at all - it's a PowerVR SGX535, which is actually really quite good at Direct3D for an integrated/mobile video solution. The HD 3000 is most definitely NOT good at Direct3D (usually you get a 2.x WinSAT score for anything below an HD 4000, as the bandwidth in those designs aren't good for accelerating DirectX). Second is the resolution and PPI - most laptops have a larger resolution and higher PPI than embedded devices, which nowadays with HD 4xxx and Nvidia and ATI chipsets being more than able to handle this, but if you're on "older" hardware this actually matters.

Thank you -- I've decided to resurrect this thread because Lenovo's X220T has the same innards as the X220 (Intel 3000), but the zooming and panning in IE10 is so smooth on the X220T because the 'tablet' features are enabled. I can get touchpad scrolling pretty smoothly with MacHater's modded version of TwoFingerScroll (link here). However, touchpad zooming in IE10 under the Synaptics driver is still terrible (laggy, choppy) compared to pinching or double-tapping a touchscreen under windows 8! It appears that zooming with a touchpad still sends the message in 'steps,' forcing the browser to re-render each time.

Has anyone been able to make zooming in IE10 as smooth with a touchpad as it is with a touchscreen? I'm guessing it would require some serious modding of a touchpad driver, through. Or, maybe an IE plugin could do the job? Thanks again.
