I have a Motorola SM56 speakerphone modem in my Acer PC of which I don't use. I use WiFi or Ethernet. It uses resources that I think could be used elsewhere.

I want to be 100% sure it's ok to disable and/or uninstall in Device manager. I also see it in Programs and Features.

If so, will it help on memory, possessor, and other resources?

If it is in Programs and features, I would imagine someone has installed the software for it?
But before you uninstall, disable the facility in the device manager. I am 100% certain it will cause no problems. If it goes wrong, it is easy to re-enable, If there are no apparent problems, then I would suggest you uninstall the software.

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.
Thanks, Dave. Yes, the driver software and management software comes via Windows update of which I accepted after installing 8 x64 of which I changed from x86. I'm testing it on my rig. Then I got to thinking that I never use the modem anymore so why have it.?!

Ok. I will do as you suggest. Sounds like a good plan.

Again, thanks so much! :D

I will mark this thread solved.
